Welcome to the Daniel Harrison House at Fort Harrison

The Daniel Harrison House is located in the middle of the Shenandoah Valley, in Dayton, Virginia. It was the home of Daniel Harrison, his first wife Margaret, and his second wife, Sarah. The Harrison Family was one of the earliest settlers of the Virginian frontier, as governors from New York to Georgia encouraged colonists to settle westward in the backcountry of the Appalachian Mountains in the 1730s and 1740s. This house represents the stories of the European settlers and the enslaved individuals who established the frontier of Virginia in the mid-18th century.
